Aliaxey Talstou

Aliaxey Talstou is an artist and writer based in Minsk, Belarus.
He worked with painting and performance but later started to
include different media, like installation, video, process based
participatory practices and text.

Along with his artistic practice he worked as curator and co-curator on
several shows in Belarus and other countries, such as Boundaries of the
Other (gallery CECH, Minsk, 2016), Talking about Politics (DKDS, Moscow, 2016)
and Fortress Europe. Eastern Bastion (KX gallery, Brest, 2016), series
One Can Not be too Careful (CECH, Minsk 2017; Eve`s ribs, St.Petersburg,
2018; Petersburg/Club der polnischen Versager, Berlin, 2018), What unites us?
(KX gallery, Brest, 2018).

Inner Meditative Sit-in / Performance

In seiner Performance lädt Aliaxey Talstou alle zu einer Meditationssitzung ein. Inner Meditative Sit-in ist gleichzeitig eine angeleitete Meditation und eine Performance, bei der der Text eine tragende Rolle hat. In seiner Erzählung verweist der Künstler auf aktuelle Umwelt- und Technologieproblematiken.
„In Zeiten permanenter digitaler Stimulation des Geistes über Kommunikationsnetzwerke wird die menschliche Kognition in Schnittstellen kanalisiert und von Algorithmen erfasst. Diese Bindung isoliert das Bewusstsein von der Umwelt und blockiert die Interaktion mit anderen Arten und der Umwelt, was kaum zum Anthropozän und der globalen ökologischen Katastrophe beiträgt.“ - sagt Talstou in seiner Beschreibung der Arbeit.
Die Aufführung dauert etwa 30-40 Minuten und erfordert keine Vorkenntnisse oder zusätzliche Vorbereitungen. Da die Veranstaltung auf der Wiese am Seeufer stattfindet, können die Teilnehmer*innen Matten oder Decken mitbringen.
Aliaxey Talstou ist Künstler und Autor, der sich mit Themen der sozialen und politischen Problematiken, der Digitalisierung der Kommunikation und der ökologischen Krise beschäftigt. Aktuell ist er Artist in Residence im Strandbad Tegelsee/Zentrum für Kultur und Erholung in Kooperation mit sasha waltz & guests.
Eintritt 3 Euro (zugleich Eintritt für das Strandbad)

In his performance, Aliaxey Talstou invites everybody to join a session of collective meditation. Inner Meditative Sit-in is a mix of guided meditation and performance with a significant textual part. The standard guidance of such practices will be enriched with the artist’s narration and include references to the current environmental and technological problematics.
“In the time of permanent digital stimulation of the mind via networks of communications, humans’ cognition is channeled into interfaces and captured by algorithms. This bound isolates consciousness from the environment and blocks interaction with other species and the environment, hardly inputting into the Anthropocene and Global ecological disaster.” - states Talstou in his description of the work.
The performance will last about 30-40 minutes and doesn’t require any skills or additional preparations. As the event will take place on the lawn at the lakeside for their convenience the participants can bring mats of blankets.
